The hospitality industry’s way of giving back.
Great images, fun stories
U.G.L.Y. Bartender of the Year has colourful characters and bright photos of people having fun for an important cause especially in regional Australia.
Set to be even bigger and better, the Leukaemia Foundation’s renowned fun and funky hospitality fundraiser, U.G.L.Y. Bartender of the Year is back in 2017.
U.G.L.Y. is all about highlighting the ‘Understanding Generous Likeable You’, in bartenders and their patrons, while raising funds to support the Leukaemia Foundation accommodation service.
In every capital city across Australia, the Leukaemia Foundation offers home-away-from-home accommodation for regional families who must urgently relocate to receive vital blood cancer treatment.
Treatment can be arduous, and families utilise the Foundation’s accommodation for an average of four months – at no cost to them. Every $80 raised by an U.G.L.Y. Bartender provides a family with one night of accommodation, relieving significant emotional and financial stress when they need help the most.
Exhibiting their enthusiastic U.G.L.Y. side, hundreds of venues will nominate their U.G.L.Y. Bartender and gear up to show how just how U.G.L.Y. they can be; creating innovative and engaging fundraisers for this fun and fabulous competition.
Since 2008 U.G.L.Y. Bartenders have raised over $10 million providing over 125,000 nights of accommodation.
In 2016 U.G.L.Y. Bartenders raised $1.8 million; an amazingly generous outcome.
To acknowledge the amazing efforts of these bartenders and their venues, the Leukaemia Foundation offers fantastic incentive prizes in every state, in addition to the first prize for each state’s highest fundraiser and their venue. State winners will receive a holiday and their venue will win either the Hoshizaki Ice Machine, or Lancer Beverage Systems products or services, to the value of $7,500, proudly donated by Principal Sponsor, Hoshizaki Lancer.
